About The Dietlein's

Mark and Sally Dietlein have devoted their lives to enriching communities through the transformative power of live theatre. Together, they represent a multigenerational legacy rooted in creativity, discipline, and a deep belief that the arts should inspire, uplift, and remain accessible to families of all backgrounds.

Professionally, Mark and Sally are the co-founders and stewards of Hale Centre Theatre, now in its 41st year and recognized as one of the most attended live stage theatres in the nation. Under their leadership, the theatre has grown from humble beginnings into a world‑class, debt‑free institution producing more than 800 performances annually for over 600,000 patrons. Central to their mission has been a steadfast commitment to providing high‑quality, affordable, family‑friendly entertainment while fostering education, innovation, and artistic excellence.

Mark serves as CEO, guiding the organization’s vision and operations, while Sally, as longtime Artistic Director, has shaped its creative voice through directing, choreography, and the writing of six original full‑scale musicals. Together, they have mentored countless performers, artisans, and young people, building not only a theatre, but a thriving creative community.

The Dietleins’ impact has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Utah Pioneer of Progress Award, the Titan Award, the National Guard Minute Man Award, multiple Best of State Awards, and the Utah Business Award. Mark and Sally are graduates of Brigham Young University and reside in Bountiful, Utah. They are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to nineteen, and they continue to lead with gratitude, vision, and a belief that theatre can strengthen families and communities for generations to come.
