The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra is a major force in the Boston music scene, in its 43rd year under the direction of founding conductor Benjamin Zander. The orchestra has released five recordings. As managing director, Elisabeth has managed 14 international tours and works alongside Zander in musician recruitment, season planning, fundraising, and promotion. Jim Johnston will interview Elisabeth.

Elisabeth Christensen is the managing director of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. She works closely with founder and music director Benjamin Zander on season planning, promotion, fundraising, musician recruitment, and auditions for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Elisabeth Christensen is the managing director of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. She works closely with founder and music director Benjamin Zander on season planning, promotion, fundraising, musician recruitment, and auditions for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Over the last 25 years, she has planned and overseen fourteen international orchestra tours to three continents. She previously served as director of the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and as executive director of the Crowden Center for Music in the Community, in Berkeley, California. Elisabeth also plays principal viola in the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Stanford University and a Masters of Music in Viola Performance from New England Conservatory.
