We are excited to welcome Brent Omdahl the Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Mission to Nigeria in the US. Department of Commerce as our speaker at our April 2020 Webinar! Brent will be sharing insights into the moral and ethical challenges of assisting U.S. firms desiring to grow their exports ad investments in Nigeria and West Africa.

From 2016-2019, Brent Omdahl served as the Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Mission to Nigeria, where he managed the daily operation of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) office. His primary role was to assist U.S. firms to grow their exports and investments to Nigeria and West Africa and advocate on behalf of U.S. firms to the Nigerian Government. He also advised the U.S. Ambassador and senior DOC officials on commercial policy issues and implemented major commercial diplomacy initiatives, including the U.S.- Nigeria Commercial and Investment Dialogue which significantly increased U.S. trade and investment over his three-year tenure. Prior to serving in Lagos, Brent was the sub-Saharan Africa Deputy Regional Senior Commercial Officer in Johannesburg, South Africa and Acting Director of the Atlanta, Georgia U.S. Export Assistance Center. He also served as the Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam from 2007 - 2010 and in Manila, Philippines from 2004 - 2006. Brent is a master’s graduate of Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, with a BA from Brigham Young University. Prior to Government service, he worked for ten years in the pharmaceutical and enterprise software industries and has experience as an entrepreneur and franchise investor. In 2020 he will transfer to Taipei, Taiwan to serve as Commercial Counselor.
