Gene is a BYU Graduate with a BA in Communications and a Juris Doctor (1991) from the J. Reuben Clark Law School. Following a decade as an attorney with an international law firm and public company, Gene co-founded and served as Chief Legal Officer, Chief Operating Officer and President of several start up companies specializing in real estate finance and asset management. Each of those companies grew nationally, and two were sold to public companies. In 2021, Gene co-founded Archwest Capital, which is currently expanding across the nation.

Gene is a frequent speaker/moderator at conferences including, among others, the American Conference Institute, Information Management Network, and the Mortgage Bankers Association, speaking on topics across all aspects of business/legal operations including entity creation, regulatory compliance, fund formation, credit/lending, and secondary market transactions.
