About Julie B Beck

Julie Bangerter Beck was born in Salt Lake City, and lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where her father presided over the Brazilian mission. Sister Beck earned an Associate Degree at Dixie College and a Bachelor’s Degree at  Brigham Young University. She met her husband Ramon in a Young Single Adult Sunday School class in Alpine, Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and have three children.

Sister Beck has been a leader and teacher in all of the auxiliaries of the Church and at the MTC in Provo, Utah. She served for nearly fifteen years as a General Officer of the Church, first, on the Young Women General Board, next, as First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency and then as the Fifteenth Relief Society General President. She also served on the Church Board of Education, the Church Welfare Committee, and on various Church History, Missionary, Temple and Public Affairs assignments.

By appointment of Governor Spencer Cox, Sister Beck served on the Utah State Board of Higher Education, which oversees all universities, colleges, and trade schools in the State of Utah. Prior to that appointment, she served for nine years on the Board of Trustees at Dixie State University, now Utah Tech University. In 2018, she published Joy in the Covenant, a book about our identity and purpose in the House of Israel. She has been a volunteer Institute Teacher and she currently serves on the Executive Board of the BYU Alumni Association.

She and Brother Beck love to spoil their 18 grandchildren; watching sporting events, golfing with them, driving them in their Jeep Wrangler, planning birthday celebrations, treating them to feasts and waffle breakfasts, making gallons of hot chocolate and popcorn for sledding parties, and taking them on “mission preparation” trips.
