About this event

JANE CLAYSON JOHNSON

Jane Clayson Johnson is an award-winning journalist… widely known for her work at CBS News, ABC News and as guest host on the nationally syndicated NPR program, On Point.

For more than two decades, Jane traveled the world covering the biggest news of the day.

As a correspondent at ABC News, she reported on many international stories… from the NATO airstrikes in Kosovo and the refugee crisis in Macedonia… to the fall of the Suharto government in Jakarta, Indonesia.

At CBS, she co-hosted The Early Show with Bryant Gumbel and was on the air on 9/11… subsequently covering the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington D.C..

In addition to interviewing world leaders, authors, thinkers and scientists, Jane has had a front row seat to American culture, interviewing stars from Hollywood and Broadway. Jane famously interviewed a reluctant Martha Stewart, while she was chopping cabbage… just before Martha went to prison. Jane has won numerous journalism awards, including an Emmy and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award. She started her career as a reporter and anchor at KSL Television in Salt Lake City. She went to BYU on a violin performance scholarship, ultimately graduating with a degree in journalism.

Jane is the author of two best-selling books. Her first book, I Am a Mother, was published in 2007 and chronicles her decision to leave network news to have a family. Jane’s second book Silent Souls Weeping shines a light on the desperate and lonely reality faced by those who suffer with depression.

Jane and her husband, Mark Johnson live outside Boston. They are the parents of five children and 4 grandbabies. Jane loves to cook and her most favorite guilty pleasure is watching the Great British Baking Show.

As well as honoring Jane and her accomplishments, there will be a live performance by BYU's Noteworthy.
