Sister Cheryl C. Lant

Sister Cheryl C. Lant was sustained as the 11th general president of the Primary in April, 2005. Her extensive Church service includes serving as a member of the Primary General Board, stake and ward Primary president, counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, ward Young Women president, and Primary teacher.

Sister Lant studied early childhood development at Brigham Young University and has spent most of her adult life teaching children, both as a mother and as an educator. She believes strongly in the potential of children to learn both spiritual and temporal things and has counseled to "never underestimate the capacity of children to feel the Spirit and understand spiritual things." She continues to bless the lives of children today and helping all to know they are a child of God. 

Cofounder and coowner with her husband of Learning Dynamics Academic Preschool, she is also the cofounder and developer of Frontline Phonics, a successful beginning reading program for children.

On September 17, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, John Glen Lant Jr., in the Salt Lake Temple.  Sister Lant and her husband, John, are the parents of nine children.
