Anthony Bates will share with us the Christ Centered Leadership Model. 

Anthony Bates serves as the managing director of the BYU Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership. Anthony began his career in education as a world history teacher at Florence High School in Florence, AZ. He came to BYU in 2005, where he began in Multicultural Student Services. There he served as an advisor, Black History Month and Cultural Programs coordinator, and the assistant director. Prior to his current role, he was in Student Connection and Leadership Center starting in 2013, where he worked with the Student Advisory Council, BYUSA Elections, and served as the director.

Anthony is passionate about African American Civil Rights history, and since 2012 has participated in an BYU Civil Rights Seminar, which takes 12-14 students each Winter semester through the Black Freedom Struggle, from pre-slavery until modern times, and culminates in students visiting Atlanta, Anniston, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma. He is also an NBA junkie who cares way too much about the draft and free agency. Anthony attended Utah Valley State College (UVU) where he earned an Associate’s degree. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from BYU, in secondary education and public administration respectively. Anthony currently has a BYU doctorate in educational leadership.

After his mission in Uruguay, Anthony followed his wife, Amy, to Provo when they got married so that she could complete her degree at BYU. She graduated in elementary education. They are the parents of seven children.
